PSP + GPS = GPSP

This is possibly something interesting for our office neighbours, the guys from Transformat: How to add GPS to your PSP

Mapping the GSM Landscape

Johan Koolwaaij from the Telematica Instituut started GSM cell ID database where mobile users around the globe can catch and contribute their average position using cell phones. The cell ID database now contains more than 10.000 cells in 14 (mostly European) countries.

C'mon contribute to dung their maps.

Tour de France - LIVE Tracker

The Tour de France is on it's third stage and we finally compiled a first version of our live tracker app. The recent track is plotted on a Google map and live data (such as eart beat, speed, stress points, distance, power and current position) will be displayed next to each driver.

Position data is currently computed by driver's distance cover. But hopefully the exact GPS dataset will be online soon! Thanks to SRM for their great technical work!

AGPS and Motorola A1000

"The Motorola A1000 (link) like other handsets have got an internal GPS antenna. Those receivers are usually weaker than other receivers specifically built for an intensive GPS usage. For that reason those antennas are assisted by the GSM, GPRS and the UMTS technology, in order to perform a quick and clean satellites locking and location fixing. That's why this technology has been called Assisted GPS (AGPS)."
