Travel Heat Maps

If you travel around, one question allway comes to your mind: Can I get to and from the places I'm considering quickly and easily?

The maps on the mySociety page show one way of answering that question. Using colours and contour lines they show how long it takes to travel between one particular place and every other place in the area, using public transport. They also show the areas from which no such journey is possible, because the services are not good enough.

Mind the Gap

Found this at TUGW:

"Google's Gapminder is a visually animated system that develops free non-profit information statistics. Google has helped put together this system so that users can have an enjoyable format to view boring data in. The information stored in the system has been collected from World Developments Indicators, and from the World Bank."

Websites As Graphs

The graph above is a visual representation of typolis.net. It was done using the pretty online applet by sala. The flower like graph does not show link between different pages but the current single document model. (The two blue blossoms for example symbolize two alternative tag clouds on our frontpage).
